When something happens like a fall, heart attack or other emergency, the first stop is generally a hospital where the staff and physicians focus on addressing the immediate danger brought about by the event.
When the hospital has met this objective, it is often still not appropriate to send the patient home. For many illnesses or accidents, a quick recovery is unrealistic. In these cases, the injured or ill person needs short or long term care to help them prepare to return home – post-acute care.

Our Short-term rehabilitation unit features transition to home apartments which include:
- Virtual Rehabilitation
- Physical Therapy
- Occupational Therapy
- Speech Therapy
- IV Therapy
- Hemodialysis
- Complex Wound Therapy
- Nutritional Monitoring and Education (Dietician)
- Diabetic Teaching
Wound Care
The healing of chronic non-healing wounds is one of our specialties. We provide our patients with the resources and treatments necessary to properly treat numerous types of wounds including: Chronic, venous, arterial, diabetic ulcerations, pressure ulcers, non-healing surgical wounds and other skin ulcerations.
Our treatments include but are not limited to:
- Vacuum assisted wound closure (Wound Vac)
- Assessments by a wound nurse and or Wound Certified Nurse Practitioner
- Evaluation and monitoring of nutritional status by a Registered Licensed Dietician
- Infection monitoring, management and prevention by nurses and physicians
- Physical Therapist lead E-Stim
- Pain Management
- Wound Clinic referrals
Taft Unit
The Taft Unit provides specialized services including case management, psychiatric rehabilitation, discharge preparation/ planning and therapeutic interventions to address the major areas of functioning and skill development for those with psychiatric disorders. The goal of the therapy is to prepare participants if able to transition into a less restrictive environment and to become more independent.
Admission criteria:
- Age 53 +
- Currently holds a psychiatric diagnosis
- Determined to need psychiatric rehab (including behavior management)
- Requires a secured unit
- Able to attend specialized programs
